1. Urvil Patel
The Gujarat batter came into the limelight after scoring a highly impressive 28-ball century against Tripura in the 2024 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. With this, Urvil became the Indian player with the fastest century in T20 cricket, and thus CSK can consider picking him as a replacement to Gaikwad. The batter’s name did appear at the 2025 IPL auction, however no team bid for him at his base price of INR 30 lakh.
2. David Warner
With CSK having one overseas spot left in the squad, they can opt to go for the experienced Australia batter as their replacement to Gaikwad. Warner is nothing short of a legend in IPL, scoring a total of 6565 runs in 184 matches. His name was in the shortlist for the 2025 IPL auction, however no team was interested in bidding for him at his base price of INR 2 crorre.

3. Prithvi Shaw
The former Delhi Capitals batter went unsold at the IPL mega auction held last year in Jeddah. Shaw’s base price at the auction was INR 75 lakh. He is known to open the batting and can turn out to be a potential replacement for Gaikwad in IPL 2025. However, looking at Shaw’s recent form in domestic cricket, CSK will be taking a massive risk if they do pick him mid-season.
4. Kane Williamson
The former Gujarat Titans batter went unsold at the 2025 IPL auction as no team was interested in bidding for him at his base price of INR 2 crore. Williamson has so far played 79 matches in the IPL, scoring a total of 2128 runs including 18 half-centuries. The Kiwi can potentially replace Gaikwad in the CSK squad and he will bring a lot of valuable experience with him as well.
5. Ayush Mhatre
The Mumbai batter went unsold at the 2025 IPL auction, but was called in by CSK for their mid-season trials just a few days back. Mhatre was highly impressive for his state side in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, playing sensational knocks like his 181 against Nagaland and his 148 against Saurashtra. He can turn out to replace Gaikwad in the CSK squad and can also go on to impress in the IPL.
6. Cooper Connolly
The young Australia batter hasn’t featured in the IPL so far. Connolly recently starred for the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League, finishing as the third-highest scorer in the league overall with 351 runs. He wasn’t able to find any bidders for his base price of INR 75 lakh at the 2025 IPL auction, however he can go on to potentially replace Gaikwad in the CSK team as the franchise still have a spot left for overseas players.
